product description

A588 Grade A steel is a high strength, low alloy steel used in a variety of structural applications, such as bridges and buildings. This steel has additional elements that make it more resistant to corrosion than other carbon steels. As a result, A588 Grade A weathering steel has excellent resistance to atmospheric corrosion, including in highly corrosive environments.

The strength of A588 Grade A weathering steel is suitable for many architectural and structural applications. The steel maintains a tensile strength range of 68-81 ksi and a yield range of 47-51 ksi. These tensile strengths and yield strengths allow A588 Grade A weathering steel to withstand harsh outdoor conditions and extend its service life. As a result, this steel is generally resistant to cracking and other forms of corrosion, making it extremely durable and reliable in the face of the elements. Additionally, the steel's resistance to atmospheric corrosion allows it to withstand high winds, harsh rain and snow, dirt, dust and other contaminants that can shorten the life of the steel.

A588 Grade A weathering steel is known for its toughness and tensile strength. This grade of steel is 3 to 4 times stronger than conventional low carbon steel, which makes it more suitable for use in projects that require more robust materials. Likewise, it is more difficult to form and weld A588 Grade A steel, as compared to conventional steel, making it more suitable for specific commercial and industrial applications. Put simply, this grade of steel is exceptionally strong and quite durable, allowing for the building of larger structures.

The hardness of A588 Grade A weathering steel is also quite impressive. Its hardness ranges from 80 to 90 on the Brinell Hardness scale. This indicates that A588 Grade A steel has increases resistance to wear and tear and is less prone to being damaged. As such, structures and components made with this grade of steel can be relied on to last not only through the harshest of conditions, but also through regular use and handling, as is commonly expected of major structures and components.

A588 Grade A weathering steel is an exceptionally strong, durable and reliable material used in a variety of construction applications. Its high tensile strength and yield strength make it more resistant to cracking and other forms of corrosion. Also, its high hardness makes it more resistant to wear. Therefore, A588 Class A is ideal for building robust and durable structures in the most corrosive environments.
