Weathering steel has low carbon content and good mechanical properties, so its welding process is an important technology for the processing of weathering steel.
The welding of A588 Grade A weathering steel plate is divided into manual electric arc welding and gas shielded welding. It is very important to understand the welding process of weathering steel plate.
The first step of the welding process is to determine the type of welding process. If the thickness of the A588 Grade A weathering steel plate is small, manual electric arc welding can be adopted. However, if the thickness of the weathering steel plate is large, it should be carried out by gas shielded welding.
The second step is to select the welding material. According to the welding position, local heat load and the chemical composition of the wear-resistant steel plate, the choice of the welding material should meet the requirements of higher quality.
The third step is to carry out preheating. Different welded structures should be pre heated. Preheating should be done before welding weathering steel plate to prevent the welding pool shrinkage cracking due to low temperature.
The fourth step is to pre weld preparation. This process is to clean the surface of weathering steel plate, which can improve the welding parts interface condition and reduce the hydrogen content of the welding joint, so as to reduce the weld joint porosity, improve the welding quality and reliability of the welded parts.
The fifth step is to weld A588 Grade A weathering steel plate. When gas shielded welding and manual welding are used, the welding flux needs to be added. During the welding process, spraying the slag protection is an auxiliary measure for preventing the appearance of the welding droplet.
The last step of the A588 Grade A welding process of weathering steel plate is the post weld heat treatment. After welding, there will be residual stresses and weld hardening on the welding interface. There may be cracks caused by the stress transformation and thermal softening. Therefore, a certain amount of post-weld heat treatment should be done.
