Quenching Process of ASTM A588 Weathering Steel

ASTM A588 steel adopts special quenching and low temperature tempering process, which can further improve corrosion resistance and strength.

This steel is also a low-alloy structural steel, mainly used in corrosive environments, such as marine and coastal areas, shore, and oil installations.

ASTM A588 steel is used for coastal, island and seawater piping requiring extremely low corrosion currents.

It can also work at high temperature and has a large deformation ability at high temperature, such as welding, cutting and bending; it can be used for equipment parts that require good thermal processing performance (including low temperature impact toughness) or strength; it is a good Corrosion-resistant steel for use in seawater and marine environments.

ASTM A588 requires special methods for chemical composition testing during the production process.

[Standard] ASTM A588 (E): -Adopt international standards, applicable to ASTMA588 steel, but the standard number must be indicated, and "ASTMA588" mark should be added on the steel plate.

[Chemical Composition] The chemical composition of each grade or steel type shall be indicated by the product standard code.

[Delivery status] The delivery status of this brand or steel type should be "confirmed".

[Mechanical properties] When mechanical processing is used for mechanical processing, the hardness in the thickness direction of the steel plate should not be lower than HRC60.

[Chemical composition] The chemical composition (C) of the steel is allowed to change slightly, but it must be indicated that the change range is not more than 0.5%.

[Delivery status] After the steel must be delivered according to the status stipulated in the contract, if it needs to be processed, the processing order of the steel (or approved by the user and signed by the user) and other relevant documents should be provided. ~
