The A588 grade K steel plate is an alloy steel that has been heat treated and features corrosion resistance. This grade of steel is used in applications such as bridges, buildings and other structures where strength and corrosion resistance are required. It is available in thicknesses ranging from 3/16” up to 4” and in widths ranging from 48” up to 120”.

The A588 grade K steel plate is composed of a combination of alloys including carbon, manganese, silicon, chromium, nickel, molybdenum, and vanadium. The chemical composition for this grade of steel is as follows: up to a maximum of 0.29% carbon, up to a maximum of 1.25% manganese, up to a maximum of 1.20% silicon, up to a maximum of 0.50% chromium, up to a maximum of 0.50% nickel, up to a maximum of 0.25% molybdenum, up to a maximum of 0.03% vanadium, and the balance being iron.

The A588 grade K steel plate is known for its superior strength. The strength of this steel can range from 50 ksi minimum yield point up to 65 ksi tensile strength. The yield strength refers to the amount of stress that this grade of steel can withstand before it begins to deform or break.
