A588 or A606-4 weathering steel
Both A588 and A606-4 are weathering steel specifications and have similar chemical compositions, meeting ASTM G101's atmospheric corrosion resistance index requirement of 6.0 or higher.
The difference between our products is:
A606-4 is considered weathering steel, starting at 22 gauge and going up to 3/16 inch thick. We stock A606-4 in flat, coil and panel.
The A588 is fabricated from steel, starting at 3/16" in thickness and increasing to 5".
A588 is a high strength low alloy sheet used in structural applications such as buildings and bridges.
For gauges 14 or greater, dual mill certification to ASTM A606-4 and ASTM A588 is provided.
